Abstract

This thesis studies the FTTx optical access networks. The first part describes the types of optical fibers, their characteristics and methods of connecting fibers. The sekond part deals with optical access network architectures, describes today's PON network types usevariations and their possible extensions. The third part presents the results of testingdifferent types of fibers according to ITU-T. The fiber attenuation is measured by mutualstrife and bending losses. The last part deals with the measurement of the acceptance of GEPON.
