Abstract
The main aim of this thesis is to propose the possibility of promoting metal-bearing briquettes in the production of foundry steel grades, which are produced by traditional two-strand technology. In this work, a suitable amount of the supported metallic briquettes in the batch is investigated, which is needed to ensure the optimum electric arc furnace operation, including the provision of a suitable chemical composition of the slag for subsequent refining reactions. In the theoretical part, particular attention is paid to the theoretical possibilities of reducing nitrogen and phosphorus content in steel, including consideration of the influence of various factors, which make it difficult to remove these two elements from steel produced in electric arc furnace. The conditions for the application of metal-bearing briquettes are verified in the production of the three casting grades of 42CrMo4 steels, which have been chosen because of strictly limited values. For this reason, the main attention is paid to the effect of the amount of these metallic briquettes on the content of these undesirable elements in steel and slag, Evaluated and compared with reference melts where these metal-bearing briquettes have not been enforced.
