Abstract

United States of America is considered the strongest and largest economy in the world. Its economic position was built up during its history and continues to maintain that position. Even though there are lots of opinions and speculation that the future will be overtaken by other economic centers (mainly China), continues to maintain its position as world leader. Due to these facts, the United States are also regarded as the largest exporter and importer in the world economy. Their commodity structure of foreign trade covers a wide range of products, thanks to this, they occupy the position of the main trading partners in other economies. The main aim of my work is to evaluate the U.S. position in the global economy and foreign trade relations with the EU. In my work, I will first give some aspects of the theory of foreign trade. Throughout history there has been a variety of theories and trends of economic thought, the haracterization and description of the contents of this chapter. This chapter also includes issues of trade policy. In the third chapter I will deal with the United States of America. I will focus not only on their historical development, but also to their economy, which will be described in various economic indicators. After the economic characteristics of the U.S. followed by a description of the importance of the U.S. in the global economy and the characteristics of the commodity and territorial structure of U.S. foreign trade. The fourth chapter is devoted to foreign trade between the EU and the U.S.. I deal not only with the historical development of their cooperation, but also the development of trade and commodity and territorial structure of foreign trade.
