Abstract
This thesis will focus on the identification of all forms of EU support for research and development at universities in two successive programming periods. In the first part of this work will define the tertiary education sector and research and development in terms of the legislative . Then I move to the characteristics of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports , as the main supporter of tertiary education sector and analyze long-term plan for education and development of the educational system of the Czech Republic for 2011 - 2015. At the end of the first part I will focus on the current problems associated with the higher education sector . In the second chapter I would like to gradually move to specific aid for research and development at universities. Firstly , I would like to introduce to you a form of support stemming from the Czech Republic , where I want to outline the current financial allocation and introduce the main recipients of these grants and then proceed to the main support of research and development aid from the EU. At the end , the most important part of this thesis consists of the previously mentioned comparison of the programming period 2004 - 2006 and the programming period 2007 - 2013 and a summary of the development of total research and development expenditures in the Czech Republic with the anticipated future of Planning season for 2004 - 2006 and Planning season for 2007 - 2013 and a summary of the progress of total costs for Science and Research in the Czech Republic with estimated progress to the future.
