Abstract
The Dissertation thesis titled "Selected aspects of optimization of rail transport in the Ostrava agglomeration" deals with the proposal of the process of ensuring optimal and efficient benefits of the activities carried on railway lines in the Ostrava agglomeration.
The introductory part of the dissertation is devoted to analyzing the situation in the Ostrava agglomeration in which the SWOT analysis evaluated following strong points: extent of rail tracks, their density and continuity to the surrounding European countries.
In the next part the analysis of the transport system was conducted. It showed the influence of railways and other related objects as part of the transport path.
Following part of the dissertation deals with specific analysis of railways in the Ostrava agglomeration, which proved that a phenomenon deserving solution is the construction of railway tracks with respect to the relationship of individual elements in connection with the use of the track and the effectiveness of funds invested.
Then this dissertation deals with optimization of rail transport, a list of aspects and their basic characteristics. Very important and crucial aspect is the arrangement of railway tracks, which can affect other considered characteristics by its character as well.
Means of optimization of rail transport is the proposal of the solving process in the form of a model (diagram of optimization, mathematical models, etc...). In practice, this means to select suitable, preferably mathematical, means for description of elements in the selected system and the relations among elements; on the basis of the set values it is possible to determine optimal costs to reach a certain level of optimization parameters, which represents a compromise between technical and economic proposals for individual elements of the transport system and the level of optimization.
These resulted in a mathematical model of comparison of the proportional relationship among the structure, financial costs and optimization parameters; in other words, whether the costs of the proposed modifications of railway infrastructure elements present achievement of the desired optimization parameter.
Based on the results obtained by processing, the procedures for application in practice and recommendations for further development of research in the issue were formulated in the conclusion of the dissertation.
