Abstract
This work is focused on structural and mechanical properties of amorphous SiO2 called silica. One of the reasons for the attention devoted to this material is its widespread use in many fields of modern technologies, ranging from telecommunications to microelectronics. Moreover, due to its simple structure, silica has always been considered a model system for study of the properties of amorphous materials.
An experimental section is devoted to study to optimization of mechanical properties of ceramic products on the basis of sintered SiO2 using artificial intelligence methods. An experiment was realized by determination of modulus of rupture of test bars made from fused silica according to technological procedures. Physical and rheological parameters were unambiguously assigned to each test bar and these parameters have been analyzed using artificial neural network later on. Understanding production process of fused silica crucible and its impact on mechanical properties is capital to assure requested quality of the product.
