Abstract

The submitted thesis deals with the possibility of increasing the fire safety by using a device for permanent reduction of the oxygen content in the room. It defines the oxygen index, as the smallest oxygen concentration in the oxygen nitrogen mixture, which still supports the burning of the material under defined conditions and the limit oxygen concentration, as the limiting oxygen concentration in the air / inert gas mixture, which in the case of flammable gases, vapours or dust still permits flame spread throughout the whole mixture. Next it deals with determination of oxygen index of selected substances and with device for permanent reduction of oxygen content in room. The conclusion contains a summary of the issue and especially determination of the suitability of the rooms for the use of device for the permanent reduction of oxygen in the room, as a tool for the designers of this device.
