Abstract
One of the objectives of the waste management is to make the most efficient use of the waste, what would replace natural raw materials, resulting in the least possible environmental burden. To achieve this, it is necessary not only to promote the use of waste but also to favor such design solutions which are material saving and at the same time allow maximum utilization of the waste. Valuable raw materials which are present in various types of waste are ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Magnetic separation of these metal wastes is used for material recycling. Magnetic separators serve to separate magnetic particles from non-magnetic particles. Currently, there is a wide range of separators, each having its own specific properties and advantages for the separation of metals of the given types and sizes. In addition to solid waste separation, magnetic separators can be used for waste water and sludge treatment. Magnetic separation is used especially for the treatment of car wrecks, electrical and electronic equipment and for the treatment of waste from the energy or construction industry. For separation of ferrous metals can be used for example suspension separators, magnetic plates, telescopic grids or drum separators and for non-ferrous metals separations the eddy current separators are used.
