Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with short circuits and their effects. First, the causes of shorts in circuits and their adverse effects are described. In the next section there is a division of short circuits according to several different criteria. Here you are find, using the program, general short-circuits but also simulation of different types of short circuit. The method of calculating short-circuit currents is explained and the necessary impedance calculations according to ČSN EN 60909-0. The second half of the thesis deals with the effects of short-circuit currents. First, the thermal effect of the short-circuit current is explained and what adverse effects it has on wires and equipment of the power system. The explanation of the force effect follows up in next chapter. Finally, an example is given for calculating the short-circuit current in the specified part of the electrical network.
