Abstract

The bachelor thesis focuses on government failures in the Czech Republic. It highlights the impacts of the Czech economy and attempts to propose suitable solutions which can contribute to stabilization of the economic situation. The thesis is divided into three key sections: The theory part outlines problematic of government failures, while explaining closely related terms such as public choice theory, rent-seeking, corruption, etc. The second part of the thesis analyses eight particular government failures in Czech economic environment, such as consumer behaviour of population, unemployment, and corruption. The last part of the work provides suggestions and solutions that can contribute to reduction of fallout of particular government failures and contribute to the improvement of the economic situation. The thesis concludes that the government failure is caused by many different ways. However, it is difficult to determine whether a different solution would lead to better and sufficient results. Occurrence of government failures is a serious problem for the society, disrupts functioning of the economy and worsen status quo of certain entities. A possible solution how the government failure could be prevent is by influence of voters who are seeking to change the rules in the society
