Abstract

This work is focused on study of biosorption of Cr(III) ions from aqueous solutions on a pilot plant activated biosorbent. Reynoutria japonica was used as a biosorbent. The aim of my work is to inform of the potential use of biotechnology in removing heavy metals from solutions. Theoretical part describes the biotechnological methods for removing metals, than there is a study of these methods and their industrial applications. Methodical part includes description of biosorbent and its preparation. The research was carried out on a pilot plant activated biosorbent PAB 0,5 and PAB 2,5 which was activated in 0,01M HCl and 0,1M HCl. There is also given the preparation of solutions models, descriptions of Cr(III) ions biosorption on PABs and measurements procedure. Measurements were studied in pH 5 and pH 6. In results there are tables and graphs of individual measurements and its comments. The conclusion is complemented by mathematical modeling and recommendations for further research.
