Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to compare two different methods of physical simulation of rolling and controlled cooling of low-alloy case-hardening steel 16MnCrS5. Results from laboratory rolling mill Tandem, which is located at VSB-TUO and simulations plastometer Gleeble 3800 in Czestochowa, Poland, where was carried out a plain strain compression tests serve as the basis. On these devices have been carried out simulations of thermomechanical forming in two different ways of cooling. The cooling process has been carried out on air and the aim was to simulate the real conditions of cooling. Second cooling was carried out proceedings in order to imitate the slow cooling in Garret coilers in Třineckých železárnách, a.s. Samples were subjected to tensile testing and metallographic analysis. The microstructure of the sample from plastometer had the deformation structure analogous to the rolled structure. The transition area is characterized by coarse grain microstructure. Mechanical properties were significantly different, owing to the small sizes of samples from plastometer.
