Abstract
The objective of this thesis was from the perspective of regional policy to assess the role of Leos Janacek Ostrava Airport in the development of the Moravia Silesia Region. Was reviewed the gradual development of the airport after taking over management by Letiště Ostrava, a.s., was described development of its infrastructure and services. Subsequently, on the basis of these compiled documents was created SWOT analysis of the airport. The results of that analysis were used to assess the potential benefits of the airport in support of regional development of the Moravia Silesia Region.
