Abstract
This thesis focuses on the fire safety of photovoltaic systems, which are becoming an increasingly important source of renewable energy. With the development of these systems, new challenges and risks associated with their safe operation are emerging.
The paper begins with a look at the basic principles of solar energy and how PV systems work, then looks in detail at the types of solar panels and their potential safety implications.
The main part of the thesis is devoted to an analysis of the risks associated with fires in photovoltaic systems. It identifies the most common causes of fires, gives examples of situations and suggests measures to minimise risks and protect against damage.
The thesis also addresses the legislation and standards affecting the operation of these systems and examines the procedures and performance of fire testing of photovoltaic panels.
The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the fire risks of integrated PV systems based on the experimental tests performed, to develop an FDS model and to recommend appropriate technical conditions for their installation from a fire safety perspective.
