dc.description.abstractWelcome to the proceedings of PhD Students’ Day FMST 2025, organized by the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (FMST) at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. The event, held in 2025, once again provided an inspiring platform for presenting the research achievements, creativity, and scientific dedication of PhD students and their supervisors, whose close collaboration drives innovation and excellence across a wide range of research fields. The event featured over forty contributions covering diverse disciplines, including metallurgical technologies, materials science and engineering, nanotechnology, chemical and environmental engineering, chemical metallurgy, thermal engineering and fuels in industry, and industrial systems management. The presented research addressed current scientific and technological challenges while offering innovative approaches and practical solutions developed within PhD research projects. We sincerely thank all PhD students for their commitment, enthusiasm, and high-quality research presentations, as well as their supervisors for their professional guidance, mentorship, and continuous support. The depth and quality of the contributions reflect the dynamic academic environment of FMST and a shared ambition to advance knowledge, innovation, and international scientific cooperation. PhD studies demand perseverance, critical thinking, and the courage to explore new directions. The work presented during PhD Students’ Day FMST 2025 clearly demonstrates these qualities and highlights the essential role of early-stage researchers in shaping the future of science and engineering. Their research makes a meaningful contribution to addressing both current and emerging global challenges. We encourage all PhD students to continue questioning established ideas, exploring new possibilities, and pursuing innovative solutions. Every research effort, regardless of its scale, moves science and technology forward. We thank all participants for their dedication and look forward to the continued impact of their research in the years to come.
