Abstract

The thesis examines the role and significance of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Fire Fighting Service in terms of the internal safety system of the nuclear facility and in terms of the Integrated Rescue System (IRS). The thesis aims to provide a description and analysis of the position, responsibilities and operational framework of the Fire Fighting Service. It deals with the organisational structure of the internal safety system of the nuclear power plant, assesses the position of the fire protection service within the IZS and information management procedures, and describes and assesses the specific tasks assigned to the fire protection service. By examining these aspects, the thesis offers insight into the service´s safety and emergency preparedness functions both within and outside the nuclear power plant boundaries. As a result, the thesis determines whether the specific tasks performed by the service are adequately defined for the specific environment of a nuclear power plant.
