Abstract

This thesis describes the policy of economical and social cohesion, its operating principles, objectives and tools used to achieve it. Further are there described the initiatives of the Community, the European Union budget and the EU operational programmes, which are divided between each goal. The Operational Programme Education for Competitiveness is analysed in detail. The practical part of this thesis is then focused on description of characteristics of the "School for pupils" project through which it was applied for funds from the European Union. These funds were then used to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching at elementary school U Kaplicky 959 in Orlova.
