Abstract

The thesis aims to evaluate the financial and business performance of company TON a.s., which produces furniture. Assessment of financial performance will be conducted using classical and modern methods of evaluating performance for the period from 2005 to 2009. In 2009 the worldwide crisis occured. The crisis began as a real estate crisis in the U.S., but it quickly spread throughout the world, and had affected economics of all countries. In these hard days is important that companies operating on the market are strong, secured against insolvency, so they wouldn´t bankrupt. The thesis is divided into five chapters including an introduction and conclusion. The second chapter is focused on the characteristics of financial performance evaluation´s methodology. Here are described all methods, indicators and procedures, which were applied for evaluation of the company´s performance in the next chapter. The third chapter contains characteristics of the company TON a.s. and also there are results of the finacial analysis. The fourth chapter is application of the methods used for the measurement of financial performance. There are calculated costs of capital, economic value added, also there is decomposition of EVA and ROE and application of selected prediction´s models. Finally, a comparison of company and whole business sector is made. The chapter concludes the overall evaluation of the company's financial performance, including recommendations to improve the situation.
