Abstract
This PhD thesis is focused on the sulphur and sulphur forms distribution in the Antonin coal seam at Jiri open-cast mine, lignite coal basin in the Czech Republic, near Sokolov city. It briefly describes the basic geological structure of the area, deals with sulphur forms, sulphur genesis, chemism, coal sampling and analysis from the exploration boreholes. Overall 86 coal samples were precisely analyzed for suplhur forms. Results of this analysis were used for the construction of the graphic outputs. Based on these results, the hypotheses of sulphur distribution are used for solving the problems of high sulphur contents in produced coal and try to find solutions for coal supplies to meet customer quality requirements. This lignite coal is mainly used for energetic purposes, partially for chemical production, too.
