Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the protection of walls of storage tanks for flammable liquids. The first part is focused on the characteristics of various types of storage tanks and their constructional design. The second part of the thesis deals with the theoretical analysis of the heat transfer from a fire or sun towards the tank. These two theoretical parts form a basis for the next section, which deals with the evaluation of all known approaches how to protect the storage tank surface from the heat exposure. These methods of protection are evaluated for efficiency and financial requirements. In the last chapter, there are suggested some optimal solutions for protecting the storage tanks for flammable liquids.
