Výskyt a rozsah sociálního vyloučení v Moravskoslezském kraji

Abstract

The diploma thesis dealt with the topic of poverty and social exclusion. This is an issue that is becoming a major topic in the field of social policy of the member countries of the European Union. The aim of the thesis was to use the multi-criteria TOPSIS method to evaluate the occurence and development of social exclusion in selected municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the monitored period from 2016 to 2020. The research itself assessed the occurence and extent of social exclusion based on six established indicators, which were related to unemployment, crime, early leaving of the education system, child benefits, housing benefits and subsistence allowances. The analysis was performed using the TOPSIS multi-criteria method. The results of own research showed that the city with the lowest incidence of social exclusion was the city of Třinec based on the assessed alternatives. In the five-year period, Třinec always ranked first among the other twelve cities. On the other side of the ranking of 12 evaluated municipalities was the town of Karviná, which finished last in all five years. The research confirmed three of the four stated research hypotheses. One hypothesis was only partially accepted.
