Abstract

This thesis deals with the analysis of potential risks on a specific long-distance cable belt conveyor connecting two mining facilities. Legislative regulations concerning occupational health and safety and safety on rope belt conveyors are mentioned in detail. It deals with a general description of cable belt conveyors and details of the specific conveyor under consideration. On the basis of a visual inspection, a description of the current condition of the belt and its security is made. Furthermore, the sources of hazards are identified and quantified, based on these assessments. Five risk factors are selected and their detailed analysis is carried out. Calculations from several methods are used to assess the risks, where appropriate, the degree of risk or not determined as a risk. The thesis concludes by suggesting technical and organizational measures that could reduce the risk or eliminate it altogether.
