Abstract
Sludge from wastewater treatment plants are a mixture of substances formed in the water purification process. It's a waste that is usable for fertilization of agricultural soils and compost production.Important is the composition of the sludge, especially of heavy metals and other toxic substances. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously reduce the content of harmful substances and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
In this thesis I have tried to come up with the possibility to reduce the heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, lead and zinc in sludge from wastewater treatment plants using microorganisms Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida. These microorganisms have the effect of reducing the content of heavy metals in sludge from wastewater treatment plants.
