Abstract

The basic aim of the dissertation thesis was the proposal of the new methodological approach used for the functional potential assessment of landscape affected by industrial activities and its experimental verification on selected locations. The basic idea of the methodological approach consists of dividing to the environmental, economic and social functions of the landscape. The thesis deals with the comparing of landscape before and after industrial activities The dissertation thesis includes a proposal of a practical application output for managing and sharing the results using the new map server which is accessible in the online version via the Internet. The newly proposed methodology of the functional potential assessment is designed for the needs of small-scale and large-scale assessment territory of disturbed by mining or other industrial activities. The results of the evaluation will be practically useful for urban planning, the owner of industrial land to potential investors the public or other landscape restoration studies. The verification of the new approach was carry out on the selected locations – the limestone quarry, the fly-ash storage dump and the spoil heap arising from underground coal mining. Based on the results were confirmed the hypotheses indicating that recent formations created by industrial activity in a few years after the end of industrial activities are able in some cases to show high values of functional potential and they could achieve higher values than the values of the original territory untouched by industrial activities .
