Muzeum současného umění na Rohanském ostrově

Abstract

The diploma thesis focuses on the architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Prague – Karlín, located on Rohan Island in Prague 8. The aim of the project is to create a building that provides space for the presentation of contemporary art while contributing to the development of public space in this dynamically evolving part of the city. The work emphasizes the harmonious integration of the museum into both the planned and existing urban structure of the area. The design responds to the specific location between the city and the river, aiming to create an open public space that naturally connects the gallery functions with the urban life of Karlín. It also reflects the relationship to the surrounding development, the Vltava River, and nearby public spaces, with the goal of establishing a vibrant cultural center for both residents and visitors of Prague.
