Abstract

The submitted Ph.D. thesis represents the first attempt to process comprehensively the problems that are associated with the transformation of a hard coal mine and with the management of land reclamation in the organization that is subject to the Mining Act of the Republic of Poland. It is the case of an ambitious objective – to describe one of the most difficult potential problems in all substantial theoretical and practical respects. Owing to the limited extent of the work of this type, it is extremely complicated. The problems are very topical, vivid and have marked features of interdisciplinarity. Applied research methods and techniques guarantee the achievement of objectives of the work that are explicitly formulated. The results and implementation outputs of the work in the specific conditions of the PG SILESIA Mine are original and are indisputably beneficial especially to the scientific study programme “Engineering Ecology”, field of study “Environmental Protection in Industry”.
