Abstract

This thesis examines effect of the temperature on the transmission characteristics of telecommunication fibers and their possible use for temperature measurement. We present the results of the measurement, that investigate the behavior of variously curved optical fibers when it was heated to the temperatures from 30 ° C to 90 ° C. Temperature effect was studied from the viewpoint of the beam profile change and variation of a fiber attenuation. There was observed slight dependence on the temperature on measured fibers, which caused increase in numerical aperture and reduction in fiber's attenuation.
