Abstract

This thesis deals with wavelength division multiplexing technology, which is now very attractive in modern telecommunication networks. It allows not only to increase the capacity of existing communication routes without increasing the number of optical fibers, but also increases flexibility in expanding the system and the introduction of new services. The first part of thesis deals with the theoretical description of WDM systems, signal processing in the optical domain and wavelength division multiplex according to the parameters. At the end of the first part is given the principle of WDM optical networks and architecture of optical switches. The second part of thesis focuses on the measurement of crosstalk and other parameters on the four channel CWDM system. In addition to the measured values, there is also a short description of the measurement instruments.
