Abstract

This thesis deals with the concept of the digital cockpit in modern vehicles and its relation to functional safety. The digital cockpit represents a set of display and communication systems that mediate information between the vehicle and the driver. The main components include the in- strument cluster, central infotainment display, head-up display, light strip, and acoustic warning signals. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the architecture of the digital cockpit and identify its inputs and outputs in relation to other vehicle systems. Particular attention is given to the role of the central infotainment computing unit, which processes information from vehicle systems and ensures their presentation to the driver through various display and signaling elements. The thesis also evaluates the influence of functional safety according to the ISO 26262 standard on the design of the digital cockpit. It describes the basic principles of safe information display, fault detection, and ensuring the availability of critical data for the driver. The result is an overview of functional relationships within the digital cockpit and a diagram illustrating the interaction between the driver, the infotainment system, and the vehicle’s display elements.
