Role České republiky v institucích Evropské unie

Abstract

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is, based on the analysis of the position of the Czech Republic in the institutional structure of the EU, to evaluate its importance and strength in the promotion of national interests within the legislative process of the European Union. Analysis methods were used to solve this issue. Based on the information found, it was found that the Czech Republic suffers from a lack of representation in EU institutions. The representation of the Czech Republic is undersized in the institutional structure and its role in the EU does not correspond to our size. The representation of Czechs in the European Parliament is just under 3%. The Czech Republic itself thus has no chance within the institutional triangle to influence legal regulations and thus defend national interests. For this reason, it is crucial for it to cooperate with states that are close to it and that share the same opinion on the given problem, which are, for example, the countries of the Visegrad Four.
