Vizualizácia dát o snehovej pokrývke na príklade Vysokých Tatier

Abstract

The aim of the master’s thesis is to create a complex solution for a possibility of visualization of data concerning snow heights in the pilot region of Vysoke Tatry, Slovakia. The solution should also help to estimate snow heights in places with unknown values. Data are downloaded in real time from different sources and afterward, they are harmonized. The final model is created from these real-time data, considering also available digital elevation model – DEM and the aspect, the slope and the curvature derived from the DEM. GRASS GIS and libraries GDAL and OGR are used and the results are published using GeoServer. The final solution is created using Open Source technologies. The thesis was made in cooperation with Mountain Rescue Service – Centre for Avalanche Prevention in Slovakia.
