Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the method of latex lifting for the removal of soot layers in order to reveal forensic traces. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the applicability of liquid latex as a method for the detection and subsequent recovery of forensic traces after a fire, with the focus placed exclusively on the use of liquid latex within the latex lifting method. The theoretical part summarizes current knowledge on the latex lifting method, the combustion process and soot formation, the issue of detecting and securing traces at fire scenes, and the properties of liquid latex. The practical part focuses on the experimental verification of the method’s effectiveness and its comparison with a more primitive mechanical method. The results show that the latex lifting method is effective and suitable for revealing forensic traces. Finally, the limitations of the method and recommendations for its use in forensic practice were formulated.
