Abstract

The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of increasing the quality of ingots made from tool steels. The introductory part marginally deals with the division of tool steels according to various criteria. The following chapter focuses on steel ingot casting technology and a description of all parts of the casting system. Another important issue that the chapter deals with are casting methods, their advantages and disadvantages in practice. The third chapter deals with ingot defects. It explains the problems of casting and solidification of steel, which is associated with the occurrence of undesirable defects. The defects are further divided according to the place of their origin into the internal and the external. The fifth chapter deals with the possibilities of simulation, casting of steel into ingots and ingots solidification under various conditions that are able to predict and show the origin and extent of defects in the ingot before casting, which directly affects the quality of the desired ingot.
