Abstract
The aim of this master’s thesis is to obtain new knowledge about the issues of optical couplers aging. First, geometrical parameters of the optical beam are described. Based on these parameters, specifically the MFD and FWHM, measurements were made. In the next chapter is presented the principle of the optical couplers, how they are produced and their transmission parameters. The fourth chapter describes various ways of accelerating aging. In particular it is aging due to heat, high optical power, gamma radiation, mechanical stress and hydrogen. The practical part describes some methods of stressing of Optokon and Gezhi optical couplers by heat and power stress. Here is also described the method of measuring the effective values of MFD and FWHM. The sixth chapter analyzes the results obtained after heat and power stress.
