Abstract
The aim of this dimploma thesis is to create a tool developed in an environment of C# programming language, whose main role is to optimize spatial database (setting indexes and generalization of layers). Program has ability to work (import, export, edit) with vector data format ESRI shapefile and with database management system Microsoft SQL Server. Another function of the instrument is to test the performance of the database (measurement of reaction time on a given query). That will be possible to test impact of custom settings and changes in the database.
The tool was developed in cooperation with Tieto is intended to automate processes optimization response of map server. That work describes creation tool itself as well as the principles workflows, including the evaluation of results in a real deployment.
