Abstract

In the field of metallurgy is constantly increasing demands on utility properties of steels and reducing production costs as well as are increasing the demands on formed products. For this reason, it is necessary obtain the still new information of properties these steels. Deformation behavior of steel for hot can be investigated through hot formability tests. One of these tests is a continuous or intermittent torsion test. To realization this test are used special equipment. Such a device for example is torsion plastometr. This is a universal computer-controlled equipment to be realizing not only the torsion test, but also tests tensile, or pressure. One of these devices is situated in the company MATERIAL AND METALLURGICAL RESEARCH Ltd. This plastometr was used to determine the deformation behavior of 42CrMo4 steel through continuous hot torsion tests to fracture. From the series of tests for a given temperature range and speed of twisting the data was obtained for further evaluation, at the end we get a series of stress-strain curves and the value strain of peak and strain to fracture. The results are used to determine the deformation behavior.
