Abstract

The subject of this thesis is design and development of a web application serving as a diagnostic tool of cognitive functions for patients with acquired brain damage. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on the issue of selected cognitive functions and their testing in psychology including the use of computer technology. Following is the issue of web applications and data security. Subject of the practical part is design of the system itself — an ASP.NET web application and diagnostic tool capable of testing visual processing and perception, working memory, long term memory and retrieval, executive functions (the ability to plan and maintain intimate plan) and overall psychomotor speed. The resulting cognitive test was associated with standardized Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (CFQ) and administered to 106 healthy probands in an online setting with the use of parallel versions. The results were classified according to CHC model of intelligence. The cognitive test was also administered in context of EEG brain mapping.
