Abstract
The presented bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the cylinder behaviour under fire conditions. The theoretical part deals with the introduction to cylinders, their classification, manufacture, marking and safe handling. Furthermore, the extraordinary phenomena that can occur during the effects of fire on the cylinder and their description. Accidents involving nitrogen cylinders that have occurred in the past are listed. Information on the physicochemical properties of nitrogen, its uses and basic data are also described.
In the practical part, an evaluation of the behaviour of nitrogen cylinders under fire conditions is carried out. Experimental measurements were carried out with the cylinder, which yielded data concerning the temperature of the cylinder jacket, propagation and size of the pressure wave that propagated into the adjacent environment. Graphical outputs in the form of graphs and tables were produced and analysed from the data. The main objective of the work was to determine the behaviour of the cylinder containing inert gas under fire conditions. In addition, the procedure and preparation of the experimental measurements are described in this section. Also, from the high-speed camera recordings, the rupture of the cylinder jacket is analyzed and the propagation of the resulting pressure wave is evaluated. In the conclusion of the thesis the results of the realized measurements are discussed.
