Abstract

The aim of this Diploma Thesis is to outline the issue of EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and point out the main obstacles, which currently impede the country in further progress towards EU membership. The first chapter focuses on political and economical development in the country since 1990 to the present. The second chapter describes the EU policy toward region of the Western Balkans, the EU- Bosnia and Herzegovina relations and also introduces programmes of the EU financial assistence. The third chapter deals with the area of EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The attention is paid in particular to the analysis of the main obstacles, which impede the country in progress towards EU membership. Further, this chapter focuses on the process of negotiation of Stabilisation and Association Agreement, the EU integration Strategy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the evaluation of Copenhagen criteria fulfilment and on the public attitude to the EU accession. In the final part I deal with the question related to the perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina membership in the EU.
