Abstract
The bachelor thesis is focused on the influence of heat treatment on the microstructure of AISI 420 stainless-steel castings. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the classification of stainless steels according to chemical composition into chromium, chromium-manganese and chromium-nickel-manganese steels or according to structure into ferritic, martensitic, austenitic, duplex and precipitation-hardening steels. The second part describes the methods of casting stainless steels. The last part includes the of heat treatment methods of stainless steels.
The experimental part evaluates the microstructure of AISI 420 steel casting (eq. 17023) after various heat treatment regimes. The changes in hardness based on Brinell hardness test and Vickers microhardness test have been assessed. The detailed study of the microstructure was complemented by EDX microanalysis of the chemical composition of the structural components.
