Abstract

This thesis deals with the flood protection in the urban areas. The thesis describes types of floods and their causes, the organization and management of protection against floods, including the definition of the role of flood authorities and the use of flood plans for flood risk management. For the purpose of this thesis, the analysis of possible influence on the course and scale of flooding in urban areas was done, with a focus the description of the organizational, technical, and nature-related flood measures.
