Determination of the fire-technical properties of the torrefied board made of hemp shires.

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis explores the research of natural material (hemp shives) and its potential applications, for example in the construction industry. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the existing knowledge about the plant itself. The practical part focuses on the production and testing of the composite board. It deals with the manufacturing of a composite board based on different compositions and types of additives, including torrefied biomass. To design the combinations of mixture compositions, the Taguchi L9 orthogonal array was used, which enabled efficient experimental planning. The thesis also determines selected fire-technical properties of these boards. These properties include, for example: heat release rate (HRR), total heat release (THR), mass loss rate (MLR), and total mass loss (TML). This work provides an overview of theoretical foundations and serves as a basis for the practical analysis of the possibilities of utilizing natural waste in construction, with an emphasis on fire-technical safety.
