Abstract
This thesis deals with the basic principles of operation and the possibilities of the optimization of photovoltaic power plants operating in the Czech Republic. I will explain general and theoretical information concerning the light itself, which is an essential part of how photovoltaics works. After a theoretical analysis of light, I will describe the manufacturing process of photovoltaic modules based on silicon, which are currently the most used type in the market. In the next section, I will discuss the individual properties and compare all generations of panels that are currently produced and used. An important part of this work is the chapter dealing with selected factors that have negative effects on the performance of individual cells. Also discussed in the chapter is the potential drop in performance due to the reduction in the efficiency of the entire photovoltaic plant. The final part of this work addresses the economic assessment of the construction and operation of photovoltaic power plants. This chapter also includes an overview of changes in purchase prices and environmental bonuses, based on the year in which the plant began operation.
