Abstract

Knowledge of the geological environment and properties of foundation soils is necessary in the areas of future development. Various phases of a survey within the framework of specified task are suitable for this, but archive information can be useful too. This thesis assesses the exploration based on archive studies in the interest area, i.e. broader environs of the towns Orlová, Petřvald and Rychvald. The character of the location of boreholes on the various functional areas according to land-use plans is evaluated using overlay analyses. The thesis contains assessment of the mechanical properties of foundation soils, which enter into the calculation of the geotechnical parameters, and may represent available resource within the domain investigation.
