Abstract
Bachelor thesis evaluates financial commitments of European Union and its member countries, which are used for official assistance to developing countries. A goal of this thesis is to evaluate this based on information available from statistics of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and from data of The World Bank, timescale 2007 – 2016, with most emphasis on the year 2016. The thing taken into consideration is if member states of European Union fulfill their commitment in terms of official development assistance, which they undertook when entering the European Union. For evaluation purposes, 7 countries of European Union were chosen: Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, France, Great Britain, Denmark, and Sweden.
Bachelor thesis is divided into five chapters, introduction and conclusion included. Developmental and humanitarian assistance are discussed in the first thematic chapter. Next chapter describes basic scope and principles of development politics of the European Union. A volume of development assistance provided by European Union and its member states is evaluated and processed in the penultimate chapter.
