Abstract
Human Resource Management is one of the core activities that an organization must deal with. Currently, organisations, and with them human resource managers, are facing the problem of ageing and changing age structure of the workforce, which they must take into account in their management. This issue is the subject of the doctoral thesis. This is an approach that considers age of employees and is called age management. The aim of this doctoral thesis is to propose the application of age management in a selected organization. In order to achieve this goal, a database of theoretical knowledge on age management is created based on the study of available Czech and foreign sources. In the application part of the thesis, a questionnaire survey and analysis of secondary data is used to find out which activities are practiced in organizations applying age management and what are the benefits of these activities, as well as whether the measures and benefits differ depending on the economic sector or the size of the organization. Subsequently, an organisation that does not yet apply age management is selected. An initial audit of age management is carried out and then possible measures are suggested that would lead to a long-term improvement in the human resource management situation and thus improve the performance of the organisation. In the application part of the thesis, methods of statistical analysis of data obtained from the selected organization, in-depth interview with a representative of the selected organization, employee satisfaction questionnaire survey and multicriteria decision-making methods are used to select appropriate age management activities for the organization.
