Abstract

The subject of this diploma thesis is optimization of the laboratory process in the preparation of zinc sulphide nanoparticles via hydrothermal method. The samples were prepared by reaction between the aqueous solutions of zinc salt and sodium sulphide under different conditions. The controlled parametres of the synthesis were molar concentrations and molar ratios of the starting precursors, time requirement, addition of the cetrimonium bromide and kaolinite. Prepared samples were characterized with the emphasis on their photocatalytic activity. The morphology and particle size were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and the phase composition was determined by X-ray powder diffraction. The efficiency of prepared photocatalysts was established by the decomposition of organic azo dye Acid Orange 7 under ultraviolet irradiation.
