Abstract

Diploma thesis on the topic “Implementation of Business Intelligence for Increase of IT Services Management Efficiency in Manufacturing Company” deals with company process analysis, design and implementation of a business intelligence solution. The main goal is to increase informative value of the data and implement a more interactive reporting. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the theoretical knowledge on the given topic, business intelligence system components, data warehouse design and complex description of used methodologies, including requirement analysis methods, the Kimball’s approach to the dimensional modelling and the design of the physical database schema, and the design of the extraction, transformation and the data loading process. Second part of the thesis is dedicated to the introduction of the company and further goals specification that stem from organization's needs. In relation to that, a detailed company processes analysis is conducted, based on which appropriate areas were chosen and described in terms of the assignment fulfillment. In the third part of the thesis, the performed analysis is expanded on the chosen company process and the modelling of the chosen process is dealt with, based on the Kimball’s business intelligence system life cycle, using the principles of the dimensional modelling that lead to the design of the physical database schema and data pump (ETL) routines. The final part of the thesis is dedicated to the creation of data cubes on top of the data warehouse schema and the comparison of the former reporting solution with the benefits of the new solution.
