Vyhodnocení atmosférické depozice těžkých kovů v Ostravsko-Karvinské aglomeraci s využitím biomonitoringu mechů

Abstract

The objective of this diploma thesis is the evaluation of atmospheric deposition of heavy metals in the Ostrava-Karvina agglomeration using moss biomonitoring. Mosses absorb majority of nutrients directly from precipitations and dry deposition, the uptake of metals from soil is small. Therefore they are suitable as bioindicators of heavy metals from atmospheric deposition. Samples were collected at 41 sites in the Ostrava-Karvina agglomeration using grid sampling intensity of 7.5 km. Concentrations of 40 elements were determined. Samples were analyzed using atomic absorption spectroscopy and neutron activation analysis. The concentration of Ni and Cd was determinate using both the methods and bad agreement was obtained. The results were compared and evaluated in time series. Pollution sources were identified using multivariation analysis. Two main factors were determined by this analysis. Factor 1 is probably reflects the contamination of moss samples with soil particles, and Factor 2 is probably related to anthropogenic sources.
