Abstract
The thesis deals with the situation concerning bank fees in the Czech Republic. The aim is to evaluate the bank fees from the perspective of macro-economy (the effect of bank fees on the commercial banks), as well as microeconomic perspective (the effect of bank charges on the clients of banks). The theoretical part is focused on the explanation of fundamental terms such as the bank system, bank products and the relation between central and commercial banking. In the following part the position of bank fees since the creation of the Czech Republic up to recent years is monitored. It is interesting to observe how the profit of the bank fees first was raising and subsequently reducing while the current situation is caused by new significant competition of the recent period with convenient services for clients. In the last practical part the preferences and behaviour of clients of commercial banks were examined by the questionnaire. The survey confirms that the amount of bank fees has an essential importance for clients who are aware of mutual tension of banks which leads to an improvement of their situation in the context of reducing bank fees. However, there is also clients’ obvious passivity in creating pressure on the banks leading to the same effect as they do not realize their position.
